All Befor/After images below are patients of Dr. Bershof, including the B/W heading images. These Before/After pictures represent but a fraction of his work. A consultation is advised so the desired procedure can be explained in detail.
A breast augmentation also known as a boob job is performed using a breast implant to increase the size and shape of the breast. It is often performed in women who have small breasts or who lost breast volume after breast feeding. A breast implant can increase fullness, projection, match body contour, and build self-confidence. Dr. Bershof generally uses smooth silicone gel breast implants. A breast lift is seldom done alone in Dr. Bershof’s practice; it is either combined with a breast augmentation or is part of a full or mini- breast reduction. A full reduction is designed to significantly reduce the size of the breasts as well as life; a mini-reduction is designed to mostly lift the breast with as minimal reduction in breast size. In Dr. Bershof’s practice, breast augmentation, breast lift, and breast reduction are cosmetic procedures.
A rhinoplasty sometimes called a nose job is a cosmetic procedure designed to improve the appearance of the nose, such as a bulbous tip, prominent profile or hump, hooked or hanging tip, as well as improve nasal proportions, address asymmetries, and enhance facial harmony and balance. Occasionally, a septoplasty or deviated septum is part of the procedure in order to facilitate symmetry as well as improve breathing.
In Dr. Bershof’s practice, a facelift and a neck lift are nearly the same. Whereas both involve the entire neck, a facelift includes the mid and lower face while a neck lift includes only the lower face. In order to properly perform a neck lift, the lower face must be included as a transition from neck to face at the jawline. Both a facelift and a neck lift are cosmetic procedures designed to improve the visible signs of aging, such as sagging skin, deep folds about the mouth, jowls, and loose skin. Although fine wrinkles are improved, they are not the main goal of either surgery. Facelift and neck lift are often performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery.
Eyelid surgery, the technical term is blepharoplasty, deals with issues of the upper and lower eyelids, in order to improve appearance and address signs of aging, such as excess skin of the upper lids and bags of the lower lids. Surgery can be done on the upper, the lower, or both at the same time. Eyelid surgery is often performed in conjunction with a facelift or a neck lift.
Dr. Bershof’s practice in body contouring is limited to liposuction and abdominoplasty, which is sometimes called a tummy tuck. These surgeries are not for excessive weight but rather for patients closer to their ideal body weight, generally taken to be within 10-20% of ideal body weight. Liposuction is used to reduce the burden of fat, and to contour fat of the abdomen, hips, waist, and thighs, in order to achieve a slimmer, more contoured body shape. Abdominoplasty, which again is not a substitute for weight loss, removes excess skin of the abdomen and tightens separated muscles that can occur from pregnancy and from excessive weight gain.
